my "indoor" summer! :)

The past few days have been full of playing Legos, finger paints, and lots of workbooks and coloring for Andrew. He is getting used to coming downstairs in the morning to turn on a good little show and eat breakfast on the couch. (That might be his favorite part, meals from his cozy little "nest" on the couch haha!) We are getting used to being inside more often than not these past few days, which actually does have its advantages. Before the broken leg, Andrew and I were swimming at least once a day, and spending the majority of time outside, so this really has been an adjustment for not just him, but me as well! So while he is happily building Lego structures on his lap, I am reading! Lots and lots and lots. I'm just about done with my 9th book of the summer and am loving it. Lots of girly, chick-lit, total fluff, and it is so fun! :) I will be starting the Narnia series soon though. Has anyone read them??? I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and the idea of a series or a succession of books makes me so excited. My mom and I went to see the newest Narnia movie and oh. my. gosssssshhhh. it was good!!!!!!!

I am off to sleep early tonite... we have an appointment at Children's Hospital tomorrow to get Andrew's cast tightened, so I will keep everyone updated. Thanks for all the sweet comments from all of you, he really is doing well and we are getting into the swing of things.

A special thanks to the wonderful Beverly, who sent an awesome package of goodies to Mr. Broken Leg, which he was thoroughly enjoying!!! You re the best, Beverly, thank you so much!!!! xo!

OK everyone.... Any more book recommendations for my indoor summer??? ;)

The Narnia books are really good, but have you read the Twilight series yet? They're by Stephenie Meyer and are in the young adult section. Probably the best love story I've ever read.

You are very welcome. Tell Andrew hello. Does he like Stanley on the Disney Channel? My grandson loved Stanley - and so did I.

My summer reading has gone to pot. All I do anymore is work, work, work. Yuck! Once I get a break, I'll be back to enjoying my books again.

Your post made me smile as your Andrew reminds me of my Jackson - he loves building with his Lego's and always is making a "nest" somewhere in the house! He actually calls it a nest! And we actually spend most of the day inside as it's 110 degrees out!

Hope his appointment goes well.

Glad to get this update on Andrew! Hope all goes well at his appointment.

I am spending too much time at the computer to read...guess that tells me something? LOL

I haven't read the Narnia books since I was about 10, they are very good though (I think!).

I love - 'The Island' by Victoria Hislop, 'The Time Traveller's Wife', The Life of Pi' and 'The Shadow of the wind' by Carlos Ruiz Zaffon, all quite summery books.

I read the Narnia series through several times as a child. I love them dearly! I am actually planning on reading it through again. Maybe out loud to the children.

I have also been enjoying the series from Philippa Gregory about the Tudors. If you are like your mom, you would probably love these. It is about the lives of Henry VIII, the Boleyn sisters. I think there are 5 books, the first one is the Constant Princess. Great books!

Poor little Andrew, I am glad he seems to be handling an indoor summer ok.

So glad to hear that Andrew is doing well, hope his appt. goes well for him. He is such a cute little thing. Those cheeks are so cute. He sounds like a tough little man. The only books I have been reading are the ones by Laura Childs, she writes a series of mysteries called the Tea Shop. They are really wonderful you feel like you are with them. She is in the mystery section. Happy reading. oh and I love Narnia.

The narina books are really good. I started reading them when I was in jr high. check out the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. He has some other amazing books like 'Eleven minutes', 'The Devil and Miss Prym' (I know sounds weird but its really good).. anyways, they're great reads and all of them have a great message and something you can learn from them.

Does Andrew know how to play on the computer yet? If so you should have him check out playhouse disney or nick jr online. Some great games, Stanley, backyardagins, and much more.

I hope his appointment goes well, I'll be praying for you guys today!

It's nice to read the update on Andrew. It sounds like he is adjusting!! My son Tim has been playing with Lego's all summer. They are all over the house!

I have been rereading some classics that I haven't read in more that 20 years! I read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn last month. I'm reading To Kill a Mocking Bird now and Diary of Ann Frank in on my list. I also have a few Jodi Picoult books waiting for me.

take care,
Dawn
