I have been for SO long. Way too long. It feels good to be back. :)
And ignore the messy look of the blog right now- consider it under construction for the next few days. I am trying to get it back the way I'd like it. Bear with me. :)

SO....
With my wedding only {gasp!!} 24 days away,
things have been mildly hectic around here.
Lots of crafting, planning, ideas, etc etc etc!

I thought I would share with you some of my inspirations for the wedding I have been working so hard to create for myself and my fiance. :)

Babies Breath!
No secret that I adore babies breath. I LOVE the look of it in mass, and I think it is so ethereal and beautiful. Our colors are black, white and apple green, so the green of the stems work perfectly into my color theme. Let's just say that my bouquet may look an awful lot like this photo. ;)


Burlap and Barns!
Yes, I am getting married in a barn. Yes, there will be burlap involved in some places. :) We spent last night working on some burlap bunting to hang around the barn to decorate. So far, it is so darn cute and I just love the vintage and rustic feel of it. Of course, we need to make it a "glam" barn wedding as well, so no cowboy boots for this bride. I ordered my black glittered heels months ago. SO chic and cute. I love the juxtaposition of the rustic against the more modern glam of some of the decor. :)


Bottles!
Of all shapes and sizes, to be exact. Thanks to my aunt, who scoured bottles from restaurants and local bars, we have TONS of bottles to use as our centerpiece decor. We are spray painting them all pure white and running them down long tables for the reception. Again, the stark white and modern look of the bottles is going to look so neat inside this wood barn. :)


Details!
It really is in the details, right? I saw this photo a while back and loved the idea. I am working on my own interpretation of this and will share photos soon. I just love the idea of a personalized drink menu for the bar- something a little special for the guests. :)


Drinks!
And speaking of drinks, this photo gave me such inspiration for our non-alcoholic drink bar. We need a place separate from the regular bar, for kids and adults alike to visit and self-serve some yummy drinks. I made labels for all the jars last night and they turned out lovely. Pictures to come! And what event is complete without those darling striped straws? Mine are of the black and white variety and have cute little green flags adorning them. Can't wait to share more with you!

planning a barn wedding! :)

In 124 days, this super adorable barn will be the site where I will be marrying the love of my life!!

So sorry to be so absent from this blog. Wedding planning, shop orders, and life itself has gotten in the way. But I am back and desperately wanting to share some of the gorgeous details that are in the works for our wedding!

First of all, the barn has been booked and I couldn't be more thrilled. We are working on a "rustic-barn-chic" wedding theme. No cowboy boots and bales of hay for this bride, but more-so along the lines of fancy fluffy dresses and tuxes, black and white color scheme with lots of apple green thrown in as well, and major pretty-ness.

I am loving the venue- it is the perfect mix of classic and rustic, and the apple green will go so well with the red barn.

I have been scouring Pinterest, searching for wedding ideas. Of course, knowing how awesome Pinterest is, I haven't been disappointed. Here are some of the photos that are driving my wedding style inspirations so far...

learn, listen, laugh.

We have been back to school for just about three weeks.
I simply can't believe time flies by so quickly!
But at the same time, it was nice to get the back-to-school rush out of the way before the crowds hit the stores. Back to school is always such a fun time though, busy or not, and I always loved it when I was little, too. There is something about sharpened pencils, lined paper and picking out a new backpack that is totally magical. {Or is that just me?!}

Having a small child makes back to school even more magical, too. I think it is so extra special to make this time of year special, even if your kids aren't all too jazzed to start up the school routine again. {cough, cough, Andrew, cough, cough!} But throwing in some extra effort helps.. baking a batch of their favorite cookies, adding a cute note in the lunchboxes, sending favors to school, all these make this transition time back into school much nicer. Don't you think?

There will be lots more info to come, but I will be there selling lots of holiday goodies from noon to 4pm. The San Diego Crafters for the Arts are dedicated to keeping art alive in our local schools, so this bazaar benefits the Language Academy directly. I adore this- I think art is an integral part of how we learn, how we live, and how we create- we simply cannot let that go to waste in our children's educations.

on to second grade.

My sweet little Andrew is already two weeks in to second grade.
Where does the time go?!
He was so excited in his new yellow tshirt with his new yellow shoes!
He has a fantastic teacher & his best friend is in his class.
We are happy to have a wonderful beginning to the school year!
